DiBLASI BREAKS 600M RECORD AS RIC
COMPETES AT N.E. CHAMPIONSHIPS

Cambridge, MAŚThe Rhode Island College women's indoor track and field team saw five student-athletes compete at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen did not score as a team. Williams won the event with a team score of 141.0.

 

 

 Senior Kayla DiBlasi

 

Senior Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) established a new program record in the 600m, placing ninth (1:40.55) and finished 28th in the preliminaries of the 55m hurdles (10.04).

 

Sophomore Kim Mangum (Warwick, RI) placed 16th in the long jump (4.88m) and 18th in the triple jump (10.20m).

 

Freshman Katie Palumbo (Greenville, RI) placed 16th in the 600m (1:42.60).

 

Senior Katie Desrosiers (Warwick, RI) placed 20th in the 3,000m (10:54.29).

 

Freshman Jessica Graham (Wakefield, RI) tied for 16th in the pole vault (2.90m).

 

DiBlasi, Mangum, Palumbo and Graham placed ninth in the 4x400m relay (4:14.67).

 

The Anchorwomen return to action next week when they travel to the New England Open Championships at Boston University on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26.
