ANCHORWOMEN POST 11 SEASON-HIGH MARKS IN BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON
Bachelder Takes Second in the All-Around

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College recorded its best score of the season and posted 11 season-high scores as the women’s gymnastics team lost, 183.350-163.175, at Springfield College.

 

The Anchorwomen (0-4) wrap up the regular season as they prepare for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, hosted by Cortland State on Saturday, March 6.

 

Junior Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) placed second in the all-around (34.075) with scores of 8.650 on vault, 8.100 on bars, 8.575 on beam and 8.750 on floor. She led the team on bars, while ranking second on both vault and floor. Her scores on bars, beam, floor and in the all-around were all season-highs.

Freshman Megan Saucier (Dartmouth, MA) led RIC on vault (8.900). Junior Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) was tops on beam (8.850), a new season-high, and floor (8.900).

 

Freshman Fallon Connolly (Weymouth, MA) posted season-high marks on bars (6.800) and beam (8.575). Freshman Alexa DeCanio (Farmingdale, NJ) posted a season-high on beam (8.350). Freshman Caitlin Elliott (Marlton, NJ) registered new highs on bars (6.700) and floor (8.800).

 

Freshman Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) posted a season-high on vault (8.300). Freshman Jen Tejada’s (Providence, RI) score on bars (6.300) was also a season-best effort.

 

Led by sophomore Brittany Baglow (Amherst, MA), Springfield also recorded its best team score of the year.

 

Baglow captured the all-around with a score of 37.400, the balance beam with a score of 9.500, and the floor exercise with a score of 9.625 for the Pride. She also finished second on bars at 8.900, and in a tie for second on vault at 9.375.

 

Placing first on vault was SC senior Christina Pagella (Westfield, MA) with a score of 9.475. Junior Carly Flynn (Franklin, MA) won on bars with a score of 8.975, and tied for second on vault at 9.375.

 

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen travel to Springfield for the final ECAC matchup of the regular season this Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
