AMADO NAMED LITTLE EAST ROOKIE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.óRhode Island College freshman Craig Amado (Providence, RI) has been named the Little East Conference Menís Track Rookie of the Week for his performance at the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 26.

 

It is the second time and second consecutive week Amado has been recognized by the LEC. He has also been named the Little East Rookie Field Athlete of the Week on two occasions.

 

 

 

Amado broke his own record in the 400m, placing sixth (48.76), and equaled his own mark in the triple jump with a fifth place effort (14.32m).

 

As a team, the Anchormen placed 27th (44 teams) with a total of seven points. UConn won the meet with 119.50 points. RIC was one of a handful of Div. III institutions seeing action at the meet, which was dominated by Div. I and II programs.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will see action at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, hosted by NYU on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 4-5.
