Gauthier Earns Wraps Up Competition
With a Seventh Place Finish at
the NCAA Championships

 

LaCrosse, Wisc.Junior 125 lbs. Brandon Gauthier (Lowell, MA) went 3-2 and placed seventh, earning All-American status, at the NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships. His performance allowed the Anchormen to place 30th (60 qualifying institutions) in the nation.

 

Gauthier opened the final day of competition vs. SUNY Cortland's Dave Colagiovanni and lost, 6-1. He pinned Cornell College's Tim Hood in just 17 seconds to finish seventh.

 

 

 

 

 On Friday, he started the day with a pin at 5:34 over fourth-seeded Jacob Scholten from Augustana. Later in the evening, fifth-seeded Riki Reynolds from Mt. Union defeated him, 8-3. Gauthier, the N.E. Champion, won his next match in the All-American Round, 5-2 in TB1,  vs. Jordan Alfaro from the Merchant Marine Academy.

 

 He finished the season with a 40-8 overall record.
