CORO NAMED ALL-ECAC &
ALL-NEW ENGLAND

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior guard Stephanie Coro (North Providence, RI) was named Second Team All-Region by the New England Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (NEWBA) and a Second Team All-ECAC All-Star by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for her performance this season.

Coro, who was also a First Team All-Little East Conference selection, played in 27 games, starting all of them. Coro averaged 18.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.9 steals per contest. She led the Little East in scoring on the season and was a two-time Player of the Week selection.

Coro scored a season-high 30 points in a Jan. 8 win over Keene State and eclipsed 20 points in 14 games. Coro scored her 1,000th career point on a late go-ahead basket in a thrilling overtime, 85-83, win against Trinity on Jan. 20.  She is currently eighth all-time at RIC in career scoring (1,198). Coro will enter her senior season trailing Kari Geisler ’07 by 18 points for seventh all-time and needing 480 points to supplant Cathy Lanni ’88 as the all-time leading scorer.

Head Coach Marcus Reilly’s team finished the 2010-11 season with a 20-7 overall record and a 9-5 (fourth place) mark in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen's effort tied for the best in program history, matching the record of the 1997-98 team. RIC did not lose back-to-back games at any point during the season, boasted an average scoring margin of +12.7 points and eclipsed 80 points on seven occasions.

The Anchorwomen enjoyed tremendous success in the Little East Conference, winning nine regular season games to earn the homecourt advantage in the first round of the Little East Tournament for the first time since 2006-07. Their, 63-52, win over UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 22 marked the program's first postseason league victory since 2005. The team also posted an impressive 10-1 mark against non-conference competition.
