RIC WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO
ROGER WILLIAMS, 8-1
Duo of Batek and Brown notches first doubles victory

Bristol, RI-The Rhode Island College women’s tennis team jumped out to a promising start on Saturday against Roger Williams, only to fall to the Hawks by a final of 8-1.

 Senior Gabriela Batek

The Anchorwomen (0-2) picked up the victory at No. 1 doubles after senior Gabriela Batek (Greenville, RI) and freshman Chelsea Brown (Wallingford, CT) cruised to an 8-3 win. However, that would prove to be the lone bright spot on the afternoon for RIC as Roger Williams (1-1) took the remaining two doubles bouts and swept all six singles matches in straight sets.

 Freshman Chelsea Brown

Junior Tracy Klein (New City, NY) had an impressive afternoon at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), while junior Olivia Hilton (Vernon, CT) and senior Kristin Dono (West Boylston, MA) were both lights out (6-0, 6-0) at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen are back at home on Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Emmanuel (4 p.m.).
