MARINA STOERMER NAMED LITTLE EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Tabbed to League Award for Second Time

Providence, R.I.-Freshman middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) was named the Little East Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as Rhode Island College posted a 4-0 week. It is the second time this fall Stoermer has received this honor.

 

Stoermer powered the Anchorwomen attack this past week, recording 58 kills and a .419 hitting percentage. She also filled out the week’s score sheet with four aces, 25 digs and 20 blocks. She recorded 15 kills and eight digs in a four-set, 3-1, win over Emmanuel.

 

 

 

For the season, she has played in  34 sets in 11 matches. Stoermer owns a .323 hitting percentage (133-31-316) to go along with 133 kills, 14 service aces, 80 digs and 44 blocks.

 

 Head Coach Elysce Tackmann's team is 9-7 overall and 0-2 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen are currently riding a five-match winning streak.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at home against UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 4 (7 p.m.).
