RIC WOMENíS TENNIS FALLS TO EMMANUEL, 7-2
Belanger Keeps Rolling With Two Wins

Providence, R.I.-Junior Doris Belanger (West Warwick, RI) improved her record at No. 3 singles to 7-4 and also notched her second doubles victory of the season alongside freshman Gianna Vallante (Coventry, RI), but it wasnít enough as Rhode Island College fell to Emmanuel College, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Courts.

 

Belangerís team-high seventh win was the lone singles victory for RIC (1-10) on the day. She earned it in dramatic fashion, taking down her opponent 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. The win at No. 2 doubles for Belanger and Vallante was just the fourth doubles win of the season for the Anchorwomen, as the tandem knocked off their counterparts with a thrilling 9-8 (7-5) victory.

Junior Taylor Dey (Woodbridge, CT) had a stellar day for Emmanuel (7-1), as she cruised to a pair of victories at No. 1 Singles (6-1, 6-0) and No. 1 doubles (8-5). Sophomore Brittany Rothstein (Tiverton, RI) and junior Christine Cuddemi (Saugus, MA) teamed up to record the victory at No. 3 doubles (8-1) and also each earned wins No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen resume Little East Conference action at home against UMass Dartmouth tomorrow afternoon (5 p.m.).
