BOYER POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN LEC
LOSS TO EASTERN CONNECTICUT
Anchorwomen Slip to 1-3 in League Play

Willimantic, Conn.-Behind a triple-double from senior setter Samantha Slonski (Griswold, CT), the Eastern Connecticut State women’s volleyball team squeezed past Rhode Island College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22), in Little East Conference action on Thursday evening.

 

Slonski posted 16 digs, 15 assists and 12 kills in a triple-double effort for Eastern Connecticut (13-6, 1-3 LEC) to go along with a pair of service aces.

On the other hand, RIC (12-9, 1-3 LEC) was led by junior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI), as the captain notched 11 kills and 11 digs. Freshman middle hitter Marina Stoermer (Seattle, WA) recorded eight kills, eight digs and six blocks, while junior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) registered 20 assists. Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) totaled a match-high seven blocks for the Anchorwomen.

 

Senior middle hitter Kristianna Ibsen (Shelton, CT) chipped in with 10 kills, five blocks and two aces for the Warriors, while junior middle hitter Katie Wilson (Pittsburg, CA) added 10 digs, eight kills and two blocks. Senior libero Taylor Abelli (Cheshire, CT) tallied 14 digs in the win.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host WPI (10 a.m.) and Manhattanville (2 p.m.) in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 15.
