WERCHADLO & MORIN LEAD ANCHORMEN TO
FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Milton, Mass.-Sophomore Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) and senior Jason Morin (East Providence, RI) won at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, as the Rhode Island College men's tennis team won their first match of the season with an 8-1 victory over Curry on Thursday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen (1-7) opened the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Werchadlo paired with sophomore Matt Collins (Rumford, RI) for a close, 8-6, victory at the top spot.

Collins and freshman Sean Raudonaitis (Westport, MA) dominated No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 win, while freshman Ariel Pezoa-Smith (West Warwick, RI) and classmate Anthony DeFrancesco (Branford, CT) scored an 8-5 win at third doubles.

 

The visitors took five of six in singles as Werchadlo (6-0, 6-2), Morin (7-6, 6-1), Raudonaitis (6-2, 6-1), DeFrancesco (6-0, 6-0) and Pezoa-Sir (6-3, 6-3) each won from No. 1-5.

Curry (0-8) remains winless on the season.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference play at Bridgewater State on Saturday, April 7 (noon).
