NORRIS WINS 100M AS ANCHORMEN PLACE SIXTH AT CORSAIR CLASSIC

North Dartmouth, Mass.-Sophomore Blest Norris (Grosse Pointe, MI) took first place in the 100m to help propel the Rhode Island College menís indoor track and field team to a sixth place finish (14 teams) at the Corsair Classic Track and Field Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. The Anchormen finished with a team score of 57, while UMass Dartmouth won the meet with a 141.50.

 

Norris posted a time of 11.00 in the 100m to lock up first place, while also finishing third in the 200m with a time of 23.30.

Freshman Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.41.

 

Forbes was also a member of the 1600 sprint medley relay squad that earned a first place finish and established a new program record with a time of 3:36.75. Junior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI), sophomore Michael Swift (Westerly, RI), and junior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) rounded out the rest of the group.

 

McCloskey placed second in the 800m (1:58.00), while Stadnick took fifth place in the 400m (51.90).

 

Freshman Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI) notched a sixth place finish in the 200m (23.63), while also posting a ninth place finish in the 100m (11.54). Sophomore Craig Amado (Providence, RI) placed seventh in the 200m (23.70).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete in the Northeastern University Invitational on Saturday, April 14 (10 a.m.).
