BRABOY WINS LONG JUMP & 200M AS ANCHORWOMEN PLACE SIXTH
AT CORSAIR CLASSIC

North Dartmouth, Mass.-Freshman Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) notched a pair of first place finishes as the Rhode Island College women’s outdoor track and field team took sixth place (11 teams) at the Corsair Classic Track and Field Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. The Anchorwomen ended the day with a team score of 50, while Roger Williams won the meet with a score of 138.83.

 

Braboy placed first in the long jump with a distance of 5.02m and also placed first in the 200m with a time of 26.57.

Braboy was also a member of the 1,600 sprint medley relay squad that earned a first place finish and established a new program record with a time of 4:21.80. Freshman Chelsea Key (Putnam, CT), sophomore Natasha Miller (Wakefield, RI) and freshman Samantha Plante (Woonsocket, RI) comprised the rest of the group.

 

Key registered a fourth place finish in the long jump (4.78m) and a sixth place finish in the 400m (1:04.94).

 

Plante earned a fifth place finish in the triple jump (9.59m). Miller placed 11th in the 200m (28.43).

 

Sophomore Jeanette Leo (Providence, RI) placed ninth in the hammer (33.71m).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete in the Northeastern University Invitational on Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m.
