C.J. TSOUMAKAS NAMED LITTLE EAST
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College sophomore pitcher C.J. Tsoumakas (Hope, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance in a 10-3 victory over Plymouth State on Saturday, April 7. It is the second time this season he has received this award.

 

Tsoumakas took to the mound on Saturday and propelled RIC past Plymouth State in the first game of an LEC doubleheader at Anchorman Field. The southpaw pitched a gem in his lone start of the week, allowing just three earned runs on six hits and one walk in eight innings, while striking out a career-high 12 batters.

 

 

 

On the season, Tsoumakas is 2-3 with a 3.25 ERA in six starts. He leads the Little East Conference with 41 strikeouts on the season through 36 innings of work.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team is 15-8 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Johnson & Wales this afternoon (3:30 p.m.).
