DAVID HOEY NAMED LITTLE EAST
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College junior pitcher David Hoey (Lincoln, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance in a 5-2 win over Wheaton on Thursday, May 3.

 

Hoey allowed just two unearned runs on four hits, while striking out six, as the Anchormen tied the program record for wins (24) in the victory over the Lyons.

 

 

 

For the season, he has appeared in 11 games, starting six of them. Hoey is 6-1 with a 2.39 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched.

 

This is the second time this season (April 23) he has received this award from the conference.

 

Head Coach Scott Virgulak’s team is 25-15 overall and finished the regular season with an 11-5 (third place) mark in the Little East. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College is the third seed in the 2012 Little East Conference Baseball Tournament and will face fourth-seeded Eastern Connecticut in first round action on Wednesday, May 8 at host Southern Maine.
