GIBLIN TAKES FIRST AT 141 LBS. AS
ANCHORMEN FINISH FOURTH AT
ROGER WILLIAMS INVITATIONAL

Bristol, R.I.-Sophomore Shawn Giblin (Cranston, RI) went 5-0 en route to capturing the 141 lbs. weight class as the Rhode Island College wrestling team placed fourth (11 teams) at the Roger Williams Invitational.

 

The Anchormen had four wrestlers place as they totaled a score of 90.0 on the day. Stevens Institute won the tourney with a score of 163.5.

Giblin recorded two pins and a major decision to improve his overall record to 6-1 on the season. He defeated Stevensí Cody Bass, 9-5, in the title match to claim his first collegiate tournament title.

 

Sophomore Kevin Barrucci (Burlington, MA) went 3-1 to place second at 157 lbs. He fell, 7-2, in the flight championship to Johnson & Walesí Matt Ross to suffer his first loss (5-1) of the year.

Senior Brandon Gauthier (Lowell, MA) went 4-1 to improve his personal record to 6-1 and place third at 125 lbs. Freshman Jonathan Costa (New Bedford, MA) went 3-1 to place sixth at 133 lbs.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 19.
