WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS KICKS OFF 2011-12 SEASON WITH INAUGURAL MAROON & GOLD EXHIBITION

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women's gymnastics team kicked off the 2011-12 season with the inaugural Maroon & Gold Exhibition at The Murray Center. The Anchorwomen split the squad and showcased their skills to gear up for the season opener, which begins on Jan. 8 against Springfield (1 p.m.) at home.

"This is a great event and the team was really excited to compete in front of a crowd," RIC Head Coach Bob Nannig said. "We had members of the wrestling and men's basketball teams serve as guest judges and everyone had a great time. We've been practicing since mid-October and it is a big thrill for the team to show everyone what they've been working on and what we're capable of. It was great to see the support we got tonight from the other student-athletes, alumni, families and the RIC community."
