GYMNASTICS POSTS BEST SCORE IN TWO YEARS IN SEASON-OPENER AGAINST
SPRINGFIELD
Bridges
Leads Team With Third Place All-Around Finish |

Providence, R.I.-Junior
Brittany Baglow (Amherst, MA) guided Springfield College to a
182.950-170.350 win over Rhode Island College in ECAC Div. III
women’s gymnastics action held at The Murray Center on Sunday
afternoon. Despite the loss, the final total was the highest score
for RIC since January 14, 2010 when the Anchorwomen tallied a score
of 170.900 against Wilson College. |

Baglow turned in the day’s top effort
in the all-around with a score of 37.075. She posted the top score
on three events: vault (9.475), beam (9.525) and floor (9.750).
Baglow also finished tied for second on bars (9.000).

|
|
Freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro,
MA) led the Anchorwomen in the all-around with a final score of
34.650 and was RIC’s top finisher in two of the four events. Bridges
placed fifth on vault (9.025), tied for sixth on beam (8.650) and
was ninth on both bars (8.450) and floor (8.525). Senior Kate
Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) was a close second for RIC (0-1) in
the all-around, as she finished with a total score of 34.150.
Bachelder placed sixth on both beam (8.650) and floor (8.850), and
also finished 10th on both bars (8.300) and vault
(8.350). |

Aside from an outstanding performance
from Baglow, Springfield (1-0) got a boost from freshman Rachel
Mattison (Andover, MA) who finished first on bars (9.225).
Meanwhile, freshman Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, CT) had a
stellar afternoon in the all-around, as she compiled a total score
of 35.825. Pocius finished in a tie for second on bars (9.000),
fourth on both floor (9.250) and vault (9.075) and was 10th
on beam (8.500). |

Freshman Abby Clark (Holderness,
NH) finished in a tie for second on vault (9.350) and beam
(8.950). Senior Carly Flynn (Franklin, MA) tied Clark for
second on vault (9.350) and also took second on floor (8.500).
Junior Annmarie Graziosa (Eastchester, NY) finished in a tie
for second on beam (8.950) and also took third on floor (9.350).

For the Anchorwomen, freshman
Ashley Ravo (Cranston, RI) posted a sixth place finish on bars
(8.600), while freshman Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA)
placed sixth on vault (8.900). Senior Sarah Chrane (Rochester,
NH) was RIC’s second highest finisher on the floor as she placed
seventh (8.775). |

In upcoming action, Rhode Island
College will host Bridgeport on Saturday, Jan. 14 (1 p.m.).
Bachelder, Chrane and fellow senior captain Angela Gargano
(Byram, NJ) will be recognized, along with their families, as
part of Senior Day prior to the meet. |
