Chrane Places Third on Floor as RIC Totals 168.925 Team Score

Ithaca, N.Y.-Senior Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) posted a team-high third-place finish on floor (9.425) as Rhode Island College went 0-2 in a tri-match with Springfield College at Ithaca College in ECAC Div. III women’s gymnastics action on Saturday.


The Anchorwomen (0-6, 0-3 ECAC) finished with a score of 168.925, while Ithaca (3-2) finished with the top score of the day at 184.200. Springfield (3-8) finished the afternoon with a score of 181.400.

Chrane had a stellar day for RIC as her score of 9.425 on floor was the high score of the day for the Anchorwomen. Chrane also posted a solid effort on beam with a score of 8.250.


Meanwhile, senior Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) led the Anchorwomen in the all-around with a score of 33.225, while freshman Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA) finished with a score of 33.000 in her first time competing on all four events.

Bachelder’s afternoon was highlighted by a 12th place finish on beam (8.375), while Ocel took fifth place on vault (9.250). Ocel also was the top finisher for RIC on bars with a 10th place finish (8.650). Freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) finished right behind Ocel on bars in 11th place (8.250).

Sophomore Caitlin Elliot (Marlton, NJ) finished eighth on vault (9.200) and 11th on floor (8.750). Senior Angela Gargano (Byram, NJ) and sophomore Courtney Mailloux (Nashua, NH) also posted solid outings on vault with respective scores of 9.125 and 9.100.


In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Yale for a quad-match with Springfield and Bridgeport on Saturday, Feb. 11 (1 p.m.).
