KANNO WINS TWO EVENTS AS
WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS, 118-92,
AT EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Willimantic, Conn.-Sophomore Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) won two events as the Rhode Island College women's swimming team closed out their inaugural season with a 118-92 loss at Little East rival Eastern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon.

 

Kanno won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:15.88) and the 100 yard IM (1:09. 35), while also taking second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:08.56).

Senior Hilary Switzer (Woonsocket, RI) placed first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:16.32), while earning a pair of fourth place finishes in the 50 yard backstroke (35.44) and the 50 yard freestyle (30.43).

 Sophomore Sierra Sant'Anna (Riverside, RI) won the 500 yard freestyle (6:11.66), while finishing third in the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:54.79) and fourth in the 50 yard backstroke (39.05).

 

Sophomore Charity Williams (Jewett City, CT) placed first in the 50 yard butterfly (37.31). 

 

Freshman Leah Oppito (Eatontown, NJ) placed second in the 50 yard backstroke (32.36) and third in the 50 yard freestyle (28.67).

 

Williams, junior Jessica Bibeault (Woonsocket, RI), freshman Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA) and Oppito won the 4x200 yard freestyle (2:07.20).

 

As an individual, Cormay placed second in both the 100 yard breaststroke (1:24.57) and the 100 yard IM (1:16.78), while notching a fourth place effort in the 100 yard butterfly (1:16.75).
