CALEB CRUMP NAMED NEWA
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College sophomore 174 lbs. Caleb Crump (Tucson, AZ) was named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after going 2-0 at a Pilgrim League tri-match on Saturday, Feb. 4.

 

Crump earned a 20-8 major decision over freshman Sean Fagan (Arlington, MA) to cap a 35-11 win over Southern Maine. He rounded out the match with a 7-2 decision over junior Jack DiBurro (Haverhill, MA) in a 24-16 loss to Roger Williams.

 

 

 

For the season, he is 17-12 with 42 takedowns, three reversals, 16 escapes, 10 near-falls and seven pins.

 

Head Coach Jay Jones’ team is currently 12-13 overall, 7-4 against NEWA opposition and 1-2 in the Pilgrim League.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at a quad-match, hosted by Bridgewater State along with Coast Guard and Trinity on Saturday, Feb. 11.
