Season Summary
(0-3 Overall)

Providence, R.I.—Head Coach Ron Sutherland’s team finished its inaugural season with an 0-3 record and an eighth place finish at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3.

 

 

 

Senior Hilary Switzer (Woonsocket, RI) placed first in the 100 backstroke with a season-high time of 1:16.32, while finishing fourth in the 50 backstroke with a season-high time of 35.44 and fourth in the 50 freestyle (30.43) at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4. She finished fourth in the 200 backstroke with a season-high time of 2:46.53 and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:17.14) at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15. Switzer placed 24th in the 100 backstroke (1:16.45), 27th in the 500 freestyle with a season-high time of 6:54.51 and 30th in the 50 freestyle (30.49) at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3. She finished with three season-high marks at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12 as she placed 16th in the 200 intermediate (2:49.84), 26th in the 50 freestyle (30.04) and 32nd in the 50 butterfly (35.15).

 

Junior Jessica Bibeault (Woonsocket, RI) finished with three season-high marks at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4 as she placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:40.68), fifth in the 50 breaststroke (46.11) and sixth in the 50 freestyle (34.73). She finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:42.85), 10th in the 100 freestyle with a season-high time of 1:20.65 and 11th in the 50 freestyle (37.47) at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15.

 

Sophomore co-captain Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) recorded three season-highs at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4 as she placed first in both the 100 IM (1:09.35) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.88), while finishing second in the 100 butterfly (1:08.56). She registered two more season-highs at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15 as she placed third in both the 200 freestyle (2:17.24) and the 50 freestyle (28.40), while also finishing third in the 100 butterfly (1:09.30). Kanno finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.56) and placed 11th in the 200 IM with a season-high time of 2:31.54 at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3. She placed fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:13.64) at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12, while also finishing seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.43) and in a tie for ninth in the 50 butterfly with a season-high mark of 31.32.

 

Sophomore Sierra Sant’Anna (Riverside, RI) notched three season-highs at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4 as she took first place in the 500 freestyle (6:11.66), while finishing third in the 1,000 freestyle (12:54.79) and fourth in the 50 breaststroke (39.05).  She placed third in the 1,000 freestyle (12:59.00) and fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:22.62) at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15, while also recording a season-high mark of 1:04.24 in the 100 freestyle. Sant’Anna finished 21st in the 100 breaststroke with a season-high time of 1:22.70 at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3, while also finishing 21st in the 500 freestyle (6:25.44) and 24th in the 100 freestyle (1:04.65). She placed 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.57) at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12. 

 

Sophomore Charity Williams (Jewett City, CT) took first place in the 50 butterfly (37.31) and also set two season-high marks at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4, as she finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:10.08) and sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:29.11). She finished seventh in the 100 freestyle (1:10.99) and eighth in the 50 freestyle (31.73) at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15. Williams placed 23rd in the 100 butterfly (1:30.06) and 33rd in the 50 freestyle (31.84) at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3. She tallied two season-high marks at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12 as she placed 25th in the 50 butterfly (34.12) and 31st in the 50 freestyle (31.47).

 

Freshman co-captain Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA) set two season-high marks at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4 as she placed second in both the 100 IM (1:16.78) and the 100 breaststroke (1:24.57), while also finishing fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:16.75). She posted two more season-high finishes at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15 as she placed third in the 200 IM (2:45.24) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:16.07), while also finishing third in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.45). Cormay placed 20th in the 100 butterfly (1:19.27) and 26th in the 500 freestyle with a season-high time of 6:45.41 at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3. She notched a pair of season-highs at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12 as she placed 20th in the 50 breaststroke (40.76) and tied for 21st in the 50 butterfly (33.43), while also finishing 18th in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.83).

 

Freshman Amanda DiPaola (Exeter, RI) placed 22nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.03) and 23rd in the 500 freestyle (6:31.01) at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3. She placed 14th in the 50 breaststroke (38.05), 18th in the 100 freestyle (1:06.96) and 30th in the 50 freestyle (30.40) at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12.

 

Freshman Leah Oppito (Eatontown, NJ) finished second in the 50 backstroke with a season-high time of 32.36 and third in the 50 freestyle (28.67) at Eastern Connecticut on Feb. 4. Oppito recorded two more season-high marks at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3 as she placed seventh in the 50 freestyle (26.90) and 14th in the 100 freestyle (1:00.53). She placed fourth in the 50 freestyle (27.34), eighth in the 100 freestyle (1:01.50) and 10th in the 50 backstroke (32.43) at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12.

 

Freshman Kristen Wilkinson (North Providence, RI) finished fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:15.13), sixth in the 100 freestyle (1:08.74) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (31.22) at the Bridgewater State tri-match on Jan. 15. Wilkinson registered a pair of season-highs at the Little East Championships on Dec. 3 as she finished 23rd in both the 100 backstroke (1:13.34) and the 100 freestyle (1:04.56). She notched two more season-highs at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Nov. 12 as she placed 20th in the 50 backstroke (35.60) and tied for 22nd in the 50 freestyle (29.58), while also finishing 17th in the 100 freestyle (1:06.13).
