MCCLOSKEY & FORBES WIN N.E.
ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Gorham, MaineJunior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) won the N.E. Alliance Championship in the 3,000m (8:39.50) with a new program record time and freshman Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) won the 55m hurdles (8.08) as Rhode Island College finished fifth (10 teams) at the 2012 Alliance Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen totaled a team score of 64. UMass Dartmouth won the Alliance Championship with a score of 145.0. Rhode Island College finished fourth (six teams) in the Little East Conference with a score of 71.0.

 

McCloskey also earned N.E. Alliance honors and was the Little East Champion in the 1,000m (2:32.40) with a second place finish.

 

 Sophomore Blest Norris (Grosse Pointe, MI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events, placing second in the 55m (6.54), sixth in the 200m (23.21) and finishing third as part of the 4x400m relay (3:27.96).

 

Sophomore Craig Amado (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events, placing fourth in the long jump (6.67m), fifth in the triple jump (13.44m) and third as part of the 4x400m relay (3:27.96).

 

Forbes picked up an additional N.E. Alliance honors as part of the 4x400m relay. Freshman Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors as part of the 4x400m relay as well.

 

In upcoming action, select members of the team will compete at the 2012 N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Feb. 17-18.
