MCCLOSKEY EARNS ALL-NEW ENGLAND
HONORS IN THE MILE

Springfield, Mass.- Junior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) earned All-New England honors in the mile with a seventh place finish and a time of 4:18.37 at the 2012 New England Div. III Menís Track and Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

 

The Anchormen placed 22nd (24 teams) with a total of 3.0 points. Bates won title with a score of 103.0.

The 4x400m relay team comprised of sophomore Craig Amado (Providence, RI), freshman Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI), freshman Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) and sophomore Blest Norris (Grosse Pointe, MI) earned an eighth place finish (3:28.69).

 

Amado also placed ninth in the triple jump (13.49m) and 20th in the 400m (53.01), while Forbes finished 13th in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles (8.84).

 

McCloskey was part of the 4x800m relay team that took 10th place (8:13.63), along with junior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI), junior Kevin Carey (Wakefield, RI), and junior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI).

 

Stadnick also competed in the 800m and finished 18th (2:02.87).

 

In upcoming action, select members of the team will compete at the 2012 New England Open Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday, February 24-25.
