Anchorwomen Defeat Wilson For Second Straight Week

West Chester, Penn.-Senior Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) finished fifth in the all-around as Rhode Island College went 1-2 at a quad-match hosted by West Chester University on Friday night.


The Anchorwomen (2-10, 2-6 ECAC) earned their best score since Feb. 22, 2009, as they finished with a team total of 173.975. RIC topped Wilson (161.525), an ECAC opponent, for its second win of the season, but fell to Ursinus (187.200) in ECAC Div. III action as well. West Chester, a Div. II program, finished with a score of 189.150 to win the meet.

Bachelder led RIC in the all-around with a final total of 34.200. Her evening was highlighted by scores of 8.775 on both vault and beam.


Freshman Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA), the reigning ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Week, finished with a score of 34.150 in the all-around. She posted an 11th place finish on floor with a team-high score of 9.275, while also notching a 9.150 for a 13th place finish on vault.

Sophomore Caitlin Elliott (Marlton, NJ) and freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) each finished with a 9.150 on vault as well. Elliott also led RIC on beam with a score of 9.000, while Bridges was RICís high scorer on bars (8.750).


Senior Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) registered another solid outing on floor with a 12th place finish and a score of 9.250.


In upcoming action, the Anchorwomen hit the road to take part in The College at Brockport Invitational on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
