Nannig Named Coach of the Year;
Bridges & Chrane Move on to NCGA Championships

Ithaca, N.Y.Rhode Island College placed sixth (seven teams) at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Women's Gymnastics Championships with a team score of 175.425, the program's highest point total since 2009.


Head Coach Bob Nannig was named the 2012 ECAC Women's Gymnastics Coach of the Year, while senior Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) and freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) have been selected as individual qualifiers for the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, which will be held at Brockport State on March 22-24. Chrane will compete on floor, while Bridges will see action as a bars specialist.

Cortland State won the ECAC Championship with a score of 189.100. Brockport finished second with a score of 187.600. Tournament host Ithaca was third (186.175), Ursinus was fourth (184.700) and Springfield was fifth (181.725). Wilson placed seventh (158.850).



 Senior Sarah Chrane


Chrane led the team on beam (8.950) and floor (9.425), tying for 19th overall on both events. Bridges led the team on bars (8.875), tying for 22nd overall, and tied for 26th on vault (9.125).


Sophomore Caitlin Elliott (Marlton, NJ) led RIC on vault (9.200), tying for 22nd and also posted a 9.200 on floor. Both scores were new career-highs.



 Freshman Cory Bridges


Senior Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) led the Anchorwomen in the all-around, placing ninth with a combined point total of 35.375. She also tied for 26th on bars (8.550). Both scores, in addition to her marks of 8.850 on vault and 9.375 on floor were new career-highs.


 Freshman Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA) was second on the club in the all-around (35.025), which was good for 10th overall, and on beam (8.650) with a 26th-place effort. Her beam and all-around scores were new season-highs.
