NAMES RACHEL RILEY HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN

Providence, RI-The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Womenís DIII News has named Rhode Island College senior forward Rachel Riley (Coventry, RI) as an Honorable Mention to their respective 2011-12 Womenís Basketball All-American Teams.

 

Riley, a two-time First Team All-Little East forward, was named Third Team All-Region by D3Hoops.com as well. She is one of only three players in program history with over 1,000 career points and rebounds, totaling 1,263 points and 1,043 boards over the past four seasons. She played in 29 games, starting all of them. Riley averaged 13.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. Riley was named the Little Eastís Player of the Week once on the season and was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the 2012 Little East Conference Womenís Basketball Tournament.

 

 

 

She has also been selected to play in the New England Womenís Basketball Associationís (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which will be played at Western New England University on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m.

 

Head Coach Marcus Reillyís team finished the season with a 25-4 overall record and a 13-1 (first place) mark in the Little East Conference. RIC closes out the programís most successful campaign, having established new school records for wins (25), winning percentage (.862) and Little East wins (13). The Anchorwomen captured the programís first-ever Little East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, while also advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 27 years.
