BRIDGES PLACES 14th; CHRANE FINISHES 38th
AS RIC GYMNASTS WRAP UP COMPETITION
AT NCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Brockport, N.Y.-Freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) placed 15th on bars, while senior Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) tied for 38th on floor, as both gymnasts wrapped up competition at the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by Brockport on Friday evening.

 

The top 14 on each event advance to the second day of competition on Saturday. Both gymnasts were selected as individual event specialists from the East Region.

Bridges posted a season-high score of 9.150 on bars to finish 15th among a field of 56 competitors, missing the cut by just one spot. Her finish was the top performance on bars by a RIC gymnast at the NCGA Championships since Shannon Hughey’s 14th-place effort in 2002. It was also the best placing by a RIC gymnast on any event at the NCGAs since Megan Joseph’s 11th-place effort on beam in 2007.

 

Chrane posted a score of 9.125 on floor.

Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team wrapped up the 2012 season with a 3-11 overall record and a 3-7 mark vs. Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III competition. The Anchorwomen posted a score 175.425, finishing sixth, at the ECAC Championships on March 10. It was the highest score for the team since the 2009 campaign.
