BACHELDER, CHRANE & GARGANO NAMED TO NCGA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Providence, RIóRhode Island College seniors Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH), Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) and Angela Gargano (Byram, NJ) were named to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-Academic Team. Gymnasts must be a senior and have a cumulative GPA at or above 3.0 in order to receive this award.

 

Bachelder, a communications major with a minor in marketing, owns a 3.177 GPA. This past season, she averaged scores of 8.650 on vault, 8.044 on bars, 8.642 on beam, 8.764 on floor and 34.100 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.850 on vault and 8.550 on bars at the ECAC Championships on March 10; 8.975 on beam, 9.375 on floor and 35.375 in the all-around at the Brockport Invitational on March 4. Bachelder was named the teamís MVP.

Chrane, an English major with a minor in French, owns a 3.38 GPA. This past season, she averaged scores of 8.650 on beam and 9.170 on floor. Chrane posted season-high scores of 9.100 on beam and 9.500 on floor against Bridgeport on Jan. 14

 

Gargano, a biochemistry major, own a 3.689 GPA. This past season, she averaged scores of 8.781 on vault and 7.430 on bars. Gargano posted a season-high score of 9.125 on vault at Ithaca on Jan. 28 and a 7.850 on bars against Bridgeport on Jan. 14.

 

Head Coach Bob Nannigís, the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Coach of the Year, team wrapped up the 2012 season with a 3-11 overall record and a 3-7 mark vs. Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III competition. The Anchorwomen posted a score 175.425, finishing sixth, at the ECAC Championships on March 10. It was the highest score for the team since the 2009 campaign.
