Providence, RI—Cox Sports and the Rhode Island Basketball Media honored Head Women’s Basketball Coach Marcus Reilly and senior guard Cynthia Gaudet (Coventry, RI) at the organization’s annual Awards Luncheon today at the Radisson Airport Hotel.

 

Gaudet received the Kevin McNamara Award, signifying her as the Women’s Basketball Player of the Year (C.C./Div. III). She was named Second Team All-Region by the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA and D3Hoops.com. Gaudet was also the 2012 Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Year, named First Team All-Little East Conference and was selected to the league’s All-Defensive Team. Gaudet played in 29 games, starting all of them. She averaged 15.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game.

 

 

 

Reilly received the Tom Carmody Award, signifying him as the Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year (C.C./Div. III). He was also named the Coach of the Year by NEWBA and the Little East Conference.  Reilly’s team finished the season with a 25-4 overall record and a 13-1 (first place) mark in the Little East Conference. RIC closes out the program’s most successful campaign, having established new school records for wins (25), winning percentage (.862) and Little East wins (13). The Anchorwomen captured the program’s first-ever Little East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships, while also advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 27 years.
