Women’s Gymnastics Season Summary
(3-11 Overall; 3-7 in the ECAC)
Sixth Place at the 2012 ECAC Div. III Championships

 

Providence, R.I.—Head Coach Bob Nannig’s team finished the 2011-12 season with a 3-11 overall record. RIC was 3-7 against Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III competition.

 

The Anchorwomen closed out the season with a sixth place (seven teams) finish, totaling a season-high score of 175.425 (the program's highest point total since 2009), at the ECAC Div. III Championships hosted by Ithaca on Mar. 10.

 

 

 

Nannig was named the 2012 ECAC Women's Gymnastics Coach of the Year, while two Anchorwomen were selected as individual qualifiers for the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, which was held at Brockport State on March 22-24.

 

Senior captain Kate Bachelder (Portsmouth, NH) closes out her four-year career with the Anchorwomen. As a senior in 2011-2012, she averaged scores of 8.764 on floor, 8.650 on vault, 8.642 on beam, 8.044 on bars and 34.100 in the all-around. She posted four season-highs with a 9.375 on floor, an 8.850 on vault, an 8.550 on bars and a 35.375 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on March 10. She also recorded a season-high mark of 8.975 on beam at the Brockport Invitational on March 4. She was named the team MVP and to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-Academic Team.

 

As a junior in 2010-2011, Bachelder averaged scores of 8.706 on vault, 7.663 on bars, 8.506 on beam, 8.819 on floor and 33.694 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.825 on vault, 8.775 on beam and 9.000 on floor at the ECAC Championships on March 5, while posting a season-best 8.100 on bars and 34.075 in the all-around at Springfield on Feb. 25.

 

As a sophomore in 2009-2010, Bachelder averaged scores of 8.671 on vault, 7.596 on bars, 8.311 on beam, 8.793 on floor and 33.371 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.775 on vault vs. Ithaca on Jan. 23, 7.900 on bars and 9.100 on floor at the Brown Tri-Meet on Jan. 31, 8.700 on beam and 33.925 in the all-around vs. West Chester on Jan. 15.

 

As a freshman in 2008-2009, Bachelder averaged scores of 8.350 on vault, 7.375 on bars, 8.417 on beam and 8.575 on floor. She posted season-high marks of 8.350 on vault vs. Bridgeport on Feb.1, 7.450 on bars and 8.850 on beam vs. West Chester on Jan. 16 and a 9.050 mark on floor vs. Springfield/Southern Connecticut on Jan. 24.

 

She is a communications major with a minor in marketing and a 2008 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

 

Senior captain Sarah Chrane (Rochester, NH) wraps up her four-year career at Rhode Island College. As a senior in 2011-2012, she was one of two gymnasts to represent the Anchorwomen at the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by Brockport on March 23, where she tied a season-high score of 9.500 on floor to finish tied for 38th. She averaged scores of 9.170 on floor and 8.650 on beam for the season. She registered a pair of season-high marks against Bridgeport on Jan. 14 as she scored a 9.500 on floor and a 9.100 on beam. She received the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Weekly Women’s Gymnastics Coaches Award once on the season. She was named to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-Academic Team.

 

As a junior in 2010-2011, Chrane averaged scores of 7.000 on bars, 8.511 on beam and 8.811 on floor. She posted a season-high mark of 7.200 on bars at the Ithaca Quad on Jan. 15.  Her other season highs, an 8.875 on beam and a 9.350 on floor, came at the ECAC Championships on March 5.

 

As a sophomore in 2009-2010, Chrane averaged scores of 8.450 on vault, 6.836 on bars, 7.875 on beam, 8.728 on floor and 32.450 in the all-around. She posted season-high marks of 8.700 on vault, 8.225 on beam, 9.150 on floor and 33.075 in the all-around at the ECAC Championships on March 13 and a 7.350 on bars at Springfield on March 7.

 

As a freshman in 2008-2009, Chrane averaged scores of 8.425 on vault and 8.950 on floor. She posted season-high marks with an 8.425 on vault and 9.150 on floor vs. Springfield/Southern Connecticut on Jan. 24.

 

She is an English major with a minor in French and 2008 graduate of Spaulding High School.

 

Senior captain Angela Gargano (Byram, NJ) closes out her four-year career as an Anchorwoman. As a senior in 2011-2012, she averaged scores of 8.781 on vault and 7.430 on bars. She recorded a season-high mark of 9.125 on vault at Ithaca on Jan. 28 and a season-high mark of 7.900 on bars at the Brockport Invitational on March 4. She was named to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-Academic Team.

 

As a junior in 2010-2011, Gargano averaged a score of 7.318 on bars. She posted a season-high mark of 8.100 on bars at the Southern Connecticut Tri on Feb. 12.

 

As a sophomore in 2009-2010, Gargano averaged scores of 8.588 on vault and 7.738 on bars. She posted season-high marks of 8.725 on vault and an 8.225 on bars vs. Springfield on Jan. 10. Gargano was injured after the second meet of the season and missed the remainder of the campaign.

 

As a freshman in 2008-2009, Gargano averaged scores of 8.863 on vault, 7.698 on bars and 8.214 on floor. She posted season-high marks with a 9.275 on vault at the ECAC Championships on Mar. 7 and 8.300 on bars and 8.675 on floor vs. Wilson on Feb. 14.

 

She is a biochemistry major and a 2008 graduate of Lenape Valley Regional High School.

 

Junior Melanie Goes (East Providence, RI) averaged a score of 8.568 on vault for the season. She totaled a season-high score of 8.850 on vault at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24.

 

Sophomore Fallon Connolly (Weymouth, MA) averaged scores of 8.329 on beam and 7.006 on bars. She registered season-high marks of 8.750 on beam and 7.550 on bars at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24.

 

Sophomore Caitlin Elliot (Marlton, NJ) averaged scores of 8.786 on vault, 8.719 on floor and 8.153 on beam. She tallied a season-high score of 9.200 on vault twice on the season, while also notching a season-high score of 9.200 on floor at the ECAC Championships on March 10 and a season-high score of 9.000 on beam at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24. She received the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Weekly Women’s Gymnastics Coaches Award once on the season.

 

Sophomore Courtney Mailloux (Nashua, NH) averaged scores of 9.038 on vault and 8.313 on floor. She recorded season-high marks of 9.100 on vault and 8.650 on floor at Ithaca on Jan. 28. She also posted a season-high score of 7.800 on bars against Springfield College on Jan. 8.

 

Sophomore Courtney Saucier (Coventry, RI) averaged scores of 8.319 on beam and 8.309 on floor for the season. She registered season-high scores of 8.600 on beam and 8.550 on floor against Springfield College on Jan. 8.

 

Freshman Cory Bridges (Foxboro, MA) was one of two gymnasts to represent the Anchorwomen at the 2012 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by Brockport on March 23, where she registered a season-high score of 9.150 on bars to finish 15th among a field of 56 competitors. Her other season-highs, 9.275 on vault, 7.950 on beam, 9.025 on floor and 34.600 in the all-around, came against Bridgeport on Jan. 14. She averaged scores of 9.094 on vault, 8.733 on bars, 8.638 on floor and 8.167 on beam.

 

Freshman Jamie Krywinski (Toms River, NJ) averaged a score of 8.481 on floor, with her season-high of 8.775 coming at the ECAC Championships on March 10.

 

Freshman Ashley Mertens (Wakefield, RI) recorded a season-high score of 8.125 on vault at the Yale Quad on Feb. 11.

 

Freshman Jessica Mushinsky (Shrewsbury, MA) averaged scores of 8.955 on floor, 8.875 on vault, 7.978 on bars, 7.930 on beam and 34.367 in the all-around. She posted a season-high score of 8.375 on bars at the Brockport Invitational on March 4, while also recording season-highs of 9.150 on vault and 9.275 on floor at the West Chester Quad on Feb. 24. Her other season-highs, 8.650 on beam and 35.025 in the all-around, came at the ECAC Championships on March 10. She was named the ECAC Rookie Gymnast of the Week once on the season.

 

Freshman Mary Ocel (North Attleboro, MA) averaged scores of 8.983 on vault, 8.119 on bars, 7.675 on floor, 7.383 on beam and 32.488 in the all-around. She recorded season-highs of 9.250 on vault, 8.650 on bars and 33.000 in the all-around at Ithaca on Jan. 28. She also notched a season-high mark of 8.250 on floor against Bridgeport on Jan. 14 and a season-high mark of 7.600 on beam at the Brockport Invitational on March 4.

 

Freshman Ashley Ravo (Cranston, RI) averaged a score of 7.933 on bars, while posting a season-high score of 8.600 twice on the year.
