LEIGH LEADS ANCHORMEN TO SEVENTH PLACE FINISH AT THE RHODY INVITATIONAL

Portsmouth, R.I.-Sophomore Tim Leigh (Somerset, MA) tied for 32nd overall (47 golfers) as Rhode Island College placed seventh at the Rhody Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Green Valley Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.

 

The Anchormen were the lone Div. III program to compete at the competition and totaled a two-day score of 653 (347, 306). RIC improved its team score from yesterday by 41 strokes in the final round. It was a par-71 course.

 

Fordham won the invitational with a score of 604 (304, 300). 

 

Leigh shot a two-day total of 162 (87, 75). Junior Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) tied for 34th overall with a score of 163 (85, 78).

 

Freshman Patrick Ford (Halifax, MA) carded a two-day total of 163 (86, 77) to equal Harper's place in the final standings.

 

Freshman Ryan Butler (Windham, NH) tied for 40th at 165 (89, 76), while junior Kyle Garcia (Rehoboth, MA) finished 47th with a score of 181 (90, 91).

 

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the Worcester State Invitational on Tuesday, April 17.
