BRABOY WINS 400M & TRIPLE JUMP
AT SILFEN INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.-Freshman Daria Braboy (Providence, RI) placed first in both the 400m (57.76) and the triple jump (10.88m), while notching second place finishes in both the 200m (26.33) and the long jump (4.70m), as the Rhode Island College women's outdoor track and field team placed sixth (13 teams) at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon.

 

RIC totaled a team score of 66.0. UMass Dartmouth won the invitational with a score of 121.0.

 

Freshman Chelsea Key (Putnam, CT) placed fourth in the long jump (4.62m), fifth in the 200m (27.84) and eighth in the 400m (1:04.83).

 

Freshman Samantha Plante (Woonsocket, RI) placed fourth in the triple jump (9.97m) and fifth in the long jump (4.45m).

 

Junior Allyson Bejma (Pawtucket, RI) placed 13th in the 800m (2:44.73), while freshman Morgan Whittier (Narragansett, RI) finished eighth in the 100m hurdles (18.66).

 

The 4x100m relay squad comprised of Key, Plante, Whittier and Braboy placed fifth (52.41), while the 4x400m team of Braboy, Key, Bejma and Plante finished third (4:20.87).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2012 New England Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday, April 28.
