PALAZZINI LEADS THE WAY IN, 3-1, LOSS
TO EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Springfield, Mass.-Freshman outside hitter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) contributed nine kills, eight digs and two service aces as the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team lost their season opener to Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut, 3-1, at the Springfield Invitational on Friday evening.

The Warriors (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 win in the first set and a 25-15 victory in the second stanza. The Anchorwomen (0-1) took the third frame, 25-22, before ECSU  closed out the match with a 25-17 win.

 

Senior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) led the way offensively with a team-high 10 kills to go along with eight digs. Junior outside hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) compiled seven winners.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face Rivier (10 a.m.) and Simmons (3 p.m.) tomorrow as the Springfield Invitational continues.
