ASIEDU & DUARTE LEAD RIC MEN'S SOCCER TO LASELL TOURNAMENT FINAL

Weymouth, Mass.-Sophomore forward Emmanuel Asiedu (Lincoln, RI) scored the games only goal, while classmate goalkeeper Christopher Duarte (Cumberland, RI) picked up his first collegiate shutout, as the Rhode Island College men's soccer team defeated Husson, 1-0, in semifinal action of the 2012 Lasell Kick-Off Classic on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen (1-0) advance to face Lasell in the Championship Game tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

The game was a scoreless deadlock until the 73rd minute when sophomore midfielder Brian Sujecki (Pawcatuck, CT) set up Asiedu for the decisive marker.

 

Duarte (1-0) made two saves in the win, while his counterpart, Husson's Mason Smith (0-1), made six stops.

 

RIC held a slight advantage in shots, 12-10, and corner kicks, 9-8.
