BOYER & PALAZZINI PACE OFFENSE AS
RIC SLIPS AT WHEATON, 3-1

Norton, Mass.-Senior outside hitter Breanna Boyer (West Greenwich, RI) led the Rhode Island College women's volleyball team with 16 kills, nine digs and two service aces, while freshman outside hitter Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI) pitched in with 12 kills and nine digs, but the Anchorwomen fell at Wheaton, 3-1, on Tuesday evening at Emerson Gymnasium.

The Lyons (2-2) opened up a two-set lead with victories in the first two stanzas (25-21; 25-19). The Anchorwomen (0-4) bounced back with a 25-19 win in the third frame, only to see Wheaton take the decisive game four, 26-24.

 

Senior setter Jessica Ho (Providence, RI) handed out a match-high 36 assists and contributed six digs. Junior outside hitter Amanda Cabral (Riverside, RI) chipped in with eight kills, five digs and three blocks.

 

 Wheaton College freshman Deirdre Wilson (Aptos, CA) recorded 16 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Elise Waelder (San Diego, CA) turned in 11 kills for the hosts, and classmate Robyn D'Agostino (Three Bridges, NJ) added nine digs and a match-high-tying four service aces. Freshman Jackie Kochiss (Milford, CT) handed out 25 assist with six digs, while first-year player Page Gustofson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) added 14 assists, six digs and four aces.

 

In upcoming action, RIC will face Tufts in first round action of the Brandeis Invitational on Friday, Sept. 7 (5 p.m.).
