LEIGH CARDS A 75 TO CLAIM MEDALIST
HONORS AS ANCHORMEN DOWN MITCHELL

New London, Conn.-Junior Tim Leigh (Somerset, MA) led all players with a four-over-par round of 75 and posted a pair of birdies on the day as the Rhode Island College menís golf team opened the 2012-2013 season with a 320-394 win over Mitchell College at Shennecossett Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) finished three shots behind Leigh at 78 to finish second, while freshman Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) fired a 79 to place third. Freshmen Peter Camerlengo (Pembroke, MA) and Eddie Francis (Burlington, MA) rounded out the scoring for RIC with scores of 88 and 94 to finish fourth and sixth, respectively.

 

Freshman Max Jewett (Ridgefield, CT) carded a round of 90 for a fifth-place finish to lead the Mariners.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at Mass. College of Liberal Arts on Thursday, Sept. 20 (11 a.m.).
