CAMPANELLA & WANG LEAD THE WAY
IN CLOSE LOSS TO RAMS

Boston, Mass.-Freshman Sadie Campanella (Chepachet, RI) and sophomore Janice Wang (Branchburg, NJ) each won their respective singles matches and combined for an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles, but host Suffolk outlasted the Rhode Island College women's tennis team, 5-4, in a match played on Thursday evening.

The Rams (3-6) took the early lead, 2-1, after doubles action. Sophomore Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, MA) and senior Allison Weisenbach (Hamden, CT) combined for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while freshman Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, CT) and junior Melissa Chermely (Walpole, MA) snuck by with a 9-7 decision at third doubles.

That would prove to be the difference as the two squads split, 3-3, in singles action. Campanella bounced back after losing the first set (1-6, 6-2, 6-2), while  Wang earned the other victory for the Anchorwomen (3-7) with a straight win (6-4, 6-2) at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Chelsea  Brown (Wallingford, CT) won in straight sets (7-5, 6-0) at No. 2 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference action at Plymouth State on Saturday, Sept. 29 (noon).
