JONATHAN COOPER NAMED GNAC
ROOKIE GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshman Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Rookie Golfer of the Week for his performance at the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship on Oct. 20-21. It is the second time this season he has received this honor.

 

Cooper helped the Anchormen win the GNAC title for the second consecutive season by placing second among a field of 45 golfers with a two-day score of 156 (77, 79; +12). He was named the 2012 GNAC Rookie of the Year for his efforts and earned All-GNAC honors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rhode Island College captured the championship with a score of 639 (316, 323; +63) after the second round played at Blackstone National Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Anchormen secured a berth in the 2013 NCAA Div. III Men's Golf Championships, which are held in May.

 

 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships, played at the Captains Course in Brewster, Mass. on Oct. 28-29.
