CONOR MCCLOSKEY WINS LITTLE EAST
TITLE AS ANCHORMEN COMPETE AT
N.E. ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Westfield, Mass.-Senior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) finished second overall and first in the Little East Conference as Rhode Island College finished sixth (13 teams) at the 2012 N.E. Alliance Men's Cross Country Championships, hosted by Westfield State on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen totaled a score of 174.0 in the N.E. Alliance, which is comprised of Little East Conference and MASCAC institutions. RIC finished fourth (six teams) in the Little East with a score of 102. Keene State won both championships.

 

McCloskey is RICís first Little East Champion since Eric Lonergan won in 2006. He finished second (156 runners) and garnered N.E. Alliance honors for the second straight season with a time of 25:37.71. He was the LECís top runner among a field of 62 competitors.

Senior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) placed 25th overall (27:10.50), while junior Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) finished 58th (28:26.26).

 

Freshman Brandon Paulino (Bristol, RI) followed with a time of 28:47.15 to finish 67th, while senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished 75th with a time of 29:02.59.

 

Junior Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI) registered a time of 29:17.85 to finish 77th, while freshman Kenny Bouchey (Cornish, ME) rounded out the Anchormen runners with a 90th place finish and a time of 29:52.75.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2012 ECAC Div. III Championships, hosted by Williams on Saturday, Nov. 3 (11 a.m.).
