MCCLOSKEY & AMADO TAKE HOME
FIRST PLACE FINISHES AS ANCHORMEN
COMPETE AT COAST GUARD INVITATIONAL

New London, Conn.-Senior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) and junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) each took first place in the 5,000m and the triple jump, respectively, to help the Rhode Island College menís outdoor track & field team finish fifth overall (11 teams) at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday.

 

Rhode Island College finished with a score of 91, while WPI totaled a score of 127 to take first place.

 

McCloskey posted a time of 15:35.19 to take first in the 5,000m. Amado recorded a first place finish in the triple jump (13.95m) and also placed 16th in the 800m (2:02.84).

Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) placed second in both the high jump (1.93m) and the 400m hurdles (54.46).

 

Senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) finished second in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:24.10), while junior Tom DeCristofaro (Smithfield, RI) finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:57.24).

Senior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1,500m (4:09.31).

 

Freshman Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) placed second in the hammer (48.90m) and seventh in the discus (38.32m), while classmate Michael Pecchia (Warwick, RI) took sixth in the shot (12.75m).

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, April 6 (10 a.m.).
