DONAHOE CAPTURES MEDALIST HONORS AS MIDDLEBURY WINS RIC SPRING INVITATIONAL

Providence, R.I.- Junior Rob Donahoe (Canton, MA) fired a two-day score of 151 (76, 75; +7) and earned medalist honors to lead Middlebury College to a first-place finish at the 2013 RIC Spring Invitational, played at Triggs Memorial Golf Course on April 5-6.

 

At the end of Saturday’s events, Donahoe stood in a tie with Middlebury senior William Prince (New Canaan, CT), who led the field after the first day of competition. Donahoe edged out his teammate Prince (75, 76; 151) in the tiebreaker to take home medalist honors.

 

Elms College junior Henry Fall (Harpswell, ME) stormed from behind and posted a 73 on the second day of competition to lead all golfers on Saturday. Fall totaled a 152 (79, 73; +8) and finished third overall, while Middlebury junior Max Alley (Albany, NY) registered a 157 (77, 80; +13) to place fourth. Endicott College senior Jackson Wyman (South Freeport, ME) fired a 159 (78, 81; +15) to finish fifth.

 

 

 Sophomore Patrick Ford

 

Rhode Island College sophomore Patrick Ford (Halifax, MA) led the Anchormen with a score of 162 (78, 84; +18) to finish in a tie for ninth. Senior Kyle Harper (Rehoboth, MA) finished with a score of 167 (83, 84; +23) to end the day in a tie for 20th, along with junior Tim Leigh (Somerset, MA), who also fired a 167 (80, 87; +23).

 

RIC sophomore Ryan Butler (Windham, NH) recorded a 170 (83, 87; +26) to finish in a tie for 28th, along with freshman Jonathan Cooper (Berkley, MA), who also shot a 170 (81, 89; +26).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will take part in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13.
