THOMA LEADS RIC TO SPLIT AT KEENE STATE

Keene, N.H.-Sophomore third baseman Justina Thoma (Canterbury, CT) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI, while junior pitcher Michelle Sylvestre (Warwick, RI) hurled a complete game four-hitter, as Rhode Island College bounced back to take game two of a doubleheader, 13-3 (five innings), at Keene State in Little East Conference softball action.

 

The Anchorwomen (16-18, 5-5 LEC) also saw junior center fielder Stacy Pokora (Wilton, CT) go 3-for-6 with four runs scored, a double and a home run. Senior second baseman Marisa Jandreau (Plainville, CT) went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI.

 

The Owls (15-10, 5-3 LEC) took out RIC, 9-1 (six innings) in the first game. A Pokora solo shot (7) accounted for the lone Anchorwoman run. Senior pitcher Jessica Borden (Lincoln, RI) took the loss (3-4).

 

Thoma went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI to pace the Anchorwomen to the win in game two.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at home against UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, April 24 (4 p.m.).
