JAMES & CUMMINS EARN WEEKLY LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE TRACK HONORS

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College freshmen Jarell James (Providence, RI) and Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) were recognized by the Little East Conference for their respective performances at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, April 20.

 

James was named the Little East Conference Rookie Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. He took first place in the 200m (22.49), while placing second in the 400m (50.24) and third in the long jump (6.23m).

Cummins was named the Little East Conference Rookie Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. He took second place in the hammer (50.03m).

Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s Anchormen won the invitational, placing first among a field of 11 teams. RIC posted a team score of 183.0 and took first place in eight different events.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2013 N.E. Alliance Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State University, on Saturday, April 27 (10 a.m.).
