NO. 1 DOUBLES IN, 8-1, LOSS TO HUSKIES

Despite the loss, Rhode Island College (2-11, 1-5 LEC) heads into the 2013 Little East Conference Menís Tennis Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will travel to Southern Maine (10-5, 4-2 LEC) for a rematch with the third-seeded Huskies on Tuesday, April 30 in first round action.

Freshman No. 2 Singles Ben Proctor

The Anchormen got off to a hot start in doubles thanks to Werchadlo and Proctor, who knocked off junior Corey Dyke (Monmouth, NJ) and junior Adam Whitman (New Castle, NH) at No. 1 singles, 9-7. However, the Huskies rebounded to take two of the three sets as junior Christopher Ross (Somerset, MA) and sophomore Thaddeus St. John (Weld, ME) scored an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while senior Sebastien Taylor (Auburn, ME) and Jonathan Sproul (Bristol, RI) tallied a victory at No. 3 doubles, 7-3, following an injury retirement.

The Huskies continued to roll through singles, keyed by Whitmanís victory over Werchadlo at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-0). St. John followed with a win over Proctor at No. 2 singles (7-6 (7-4) 6-3), while Ross tallied a victory at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-3).
