ANCHORMEN WIN LITTLE EAST
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
RIC Wins Five Individual Events at 2013 Alliance Championships

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College men's outdoor track and field team captured the 2013 Little East Conference Championship at the 2013 N.E. Alliance Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Alliance Championship is comprised of institutions from the MASCAC and Little East Conference. The Anchormen captured the program's first-ever Little East title by placing first (six teams) with a score of 174.0. RIC finished second (11 teams) in the Alliance with a team score of 118.0.

 

 

 

Freshman Jarell James (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in four events. He was the N.E. Alliance Champion with first place finishes in the 200m (22.07), 400m (48.93), and the 4x400m relay (3:20.76), while also placing third in the long jump (6.76m).

Sophomore Jarell Forbes (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in four events. He was the N.E. Alliance  Champion in the 400m hurdles (53.54), and the 4x400m relay (3:20.76), while also placing second in the 400m (48.97) and third in the 110m hurdles (15.31).

Senior Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in three events, placing first in the 4x400m relay (3:20.76), fourth in the 800m (1:54.56) and fifth in the 1,500m (3:57.55).

Junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events, placing first in the 4x400m relay (3:20.76) and second in the triple jump (14.12m).

Senior Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in two events. He was the N.E. Alliance Champion in the 5,000m (15:26.08) and placed third in the 1,500m (3:56.92).

Freshman Edward Cummins (Lincoln, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors, and was the Little East Champion, with a second place finish in the hammer (50.40m).

Senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 3,000m steeplechase, placing sixth (10:07.65). Junior Cameron Richer (Woonsocket, RI) earned N.E. Alliance honors in the 10,000m, placing sixth (34:35.63).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the 2013 N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by Colby on Saturday, May 5.
