THOMA NAMED LITTLE EAST SOFTBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Providence, R.I.-Rhode Island College sophomore third baseman Justina Thoma (Canterbury, CT) was named the Little East Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance in a 3-3 week for the Anchorwomen.

 

Thoma batted .389 (7-for-18) with seven hits, two runs scored, one double, two homers and nine RBI on the week. She went 2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and five RBI as Rhode Island College swept a doubleheader from UMass Dartmouth on April 24.

 

 

 

For the season, she has played in 39 games, starting all of them. Thoma is batting .343 (36-for-105) with 36 hits, 18 runs scored, seven doubles, three homers and 25 RBI.

 

Head Coach Nicole Riley’s team is 19-21 overall and finished the regular season with an 8-6 (third place tie) mark in the Little East. In upcoming action, fifth-seeded Rhode Island College will battle fourth-seeded Plymouth State at the 2013 Little East Conference Softball Tournament, hosted by Eastern Connecticut on Thursday, May 2 (2 p.m.).
