ANCHORWOMEN OPEN 2012-13 SEASON WITH FOURTH PLACE FINISH AT MICHAEL ARSENAULT RELAYS

Bridgewater, Mass.-The Rhode Island College women’s swimming team opened the 2012-13 season at the Michael Arsenault Relay, hosted by Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchorwomen placed fourth with a score of 62. Colby-Sawyer took first (152), followed by the hosts (112) and UMass Dartmouth (104).

 

The 4x400-yard medley relay team comprised of freshman Emily Thompson (Cumberland, RI), sophomore Abbie Leazes (Providence, RI), junior Sophie Kanno (Cranston, RI) and freshman Marykate McCutcheon (Smithfield, RI) placed second (4:37.28).

The 200-yard medley relay team made up off freshman Rachel Walsh (North Providence, RI), sophomore Katie Landry (Woonsocket, RI), sophomore Ramie Cormay (Walpole, MA) and sophomore Kristen Wilkinson (North Providence, RI) placed third (2:19.51).

 

Cormay, Walsh, freshman Monique Mullins (North Providence, RI) and junior Laura Moreau (Woonsocket, RI) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle relay (1:00.97).

 

Sophomore Amanda DiPaola (Exeter, RI), Landry, Kanno and Leazes placed third in the 400-yard breast crescendo relay (5:25.54).

 

DiPaola, Mullins, Cormay and Kanno placed second in the 200-yard clothes relay (6:49.05).

 

Wilkinson, Walsh, Thompson and McCutcheon placed second in the 400-yard back crescendo relay (4:41.62). 

 

 Moreau, Thompson, Leazes and McCutcheon placed fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:08.43), which is a new program record.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the University of St. Joseph on Saturday, Oct. 27.
