WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN LITTLE EAST PRESEASON POLL

Providence, R.I.-The Rhode Island College women’s basketball team was picked to finish third in the 2012-13 Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll after a vote of the league’s eight head coaches.

 

The Anchorwomen totaled 45 points. Southern Maine was picked to finish first with 63 points and seven first place votes. Western Connecticut was selected to place third with 45 points. UMass Dartmouth was fourth with 43 points and one first place vote.

First-Year Head Coach Kara Williamson’s team returns seven players, including starting forward senior Courtney Burns (Rockland, MA) and sixth-man guard Ashley O’Dell (Lincoln, RI), from last season’s Little East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship squad. RIC is coming off the best season in program history, which saw the Anchorwomen post a program-best 25-4 overall mark and an 11-1 record in the Little East.
