STADNICK, MCCLOSKEY & AMADO LEAD
MENíS TRACK TO SECOND PLACE FINISH
AT SPRINGFIELD INVITATIONAL

Springfield, Mass.-Seniors Shawn Stadnick (Wakefield, RI) and Conor McCloskey (Wakefield, RI), along with junior Craig Amado (Providence, RI), posted a pair of first-place finishes, as the Rhode Island College menís track & field team opened the indoor season at a five-team meet hosted by Springfield on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Anchormen placed second overall with a score of 130. WPI won the meet with a score of 159.

 

Stadnick placed first in the mile with a time of 4:29.47 and took first in the 800m with a time of 1:59.88. He was also a member of the 4x800m relay team that finished first with a time of 8:13.92.

McCloskey placed first in the 3,000m (8:47.09) and took first in the 1,000m (2:41.29). Along with Stadnick, he was also a member of the 4x800m relay team that finished in first place.

 

Amado took first in the triple jump (14.25m) the 400m (51.43) and as part of the 4x200m (1:35.68) and 4x400m (3:27.79) relays.

 

Junior Blest Norris (Grosse Pointe, MI) placed first in the 60m (7.12) and took third in the 200m (23.84).  

 

Senior Austin Pena (Warwick, RI) placed first in the 600m (1:24.88) and as part of the 4x800m relay. Freshman Jarrell James (Providence, RI) posted a fourth place finish in the 60m (7.30), took sixth in the long jump (6.05m) and was first as part of the 4x200m and 4x400m relays.  Sophomore Aleno Gomes (Providence, RI) placed fourth in the 400m (52.32) and first as part of the 4x400m relay.  

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 8 (11 a.m.).
