RIC MENíS BASKETBALL RANKED NO. 14

Providence, R.I.-After knocking off the No. 1 team in the country last week at The Murray Center, the Rhode Island College menís basketball team moved into the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation.

 

Rhode Island College (6-0, 1-0 LEC) garnered national attention with a 68-44 thrashing of top-ranked MIT on Thursday and then followed with a 68-54 victory over Plymouth State in its Little East Conference opener on Saturday.

 

Senior guard Tahrike Carter (Brooklyn, NY) is averaging over 11 points and nearly six rebounds a game to lead RIC on offense, while junior guards Tom DeCiantis (North Kingstown, RI) and Nyheem Sanders (Pawtucket, RI) are both averaging double-digits in scoring as well. Meanwhile, freshman center Mike Neal (Pawtucket, RI) was recently named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance in the teamís wins over MIT and Plymouth State.

Head Coach Bob Walshís Anchormen are coming off 23-7 overall record and a 10-4 (second place tie) finish in the Little East. RIC reached the championship game of the 2012 Little East Tournament for the sixth consecutive season. The Anchormen received their first at-large selection into the NCAA Div. III Tournament, marking the sixth straight season RIC qualified for the Big Dance, one of only five Div. III programs in the country that can claim that feat.
